An Addict

Keith was due to change his pain patch on Monday morning. He decided not to put a new one on because he went several hours before realizing that it was time for a new patch. Usually he started to feel pain right around the time when it was time to apply a new patch. He has had very little pain, which is a huge blessing from God! (In the past, he was experiencing pretty severe pain in his shoulder, side, and hip which was caused by the cancer.)

It now appears that Keith is suffering from withdrawl because he isn't using the pain patches. He has been having hot/cold flashes. One minute he is hot and the next minute he is freezing. He also had some stomach cramping. He spoke to his oncologist's nurse yesterday and she confirmed our suspicions. She told him to take some of his pain pills and slowly wean himself off of those. That seems to help. What fun! I never thought I would live with a "druggie." : )
