The big party was this morning. The theme was "Under Construction." Here's a sneak peek at the party. This is what our guests saw as they pulled up to the house.

The construction workers did some painting.
The construction workers also took down some buildings with wrecking balls.
On a sidenote, we almost celebrated the beginning and the end of Lincoln's life today. He decided to get into the cake while I was getting ready this morning. Luckily, it was fixable.

We treated my mom to Mother's Day brunch on Sunday. I even broke out the china.
I tried a new recipe for stuffed french toast. On my last girl's weeekend, we ate at Mimi's Cafe. Several of the girls ordered stuffed french toast. I combined a few recipes and came up with this. It was pretty yummy!(Just in case you're wondering, I mixed 1 package of cream cheese with about 1/2 c of orange marmalade. I cut a slit in each piece of bread, and stuffed it with the cream cheese mixture. Then I mixed a few eggs with some half and half. I dunked the bread in the egg mixture and cooked it. For the topping, I added blueberries and strawberries to strawberry syrup. Next time, I think I will just top it with berries. The syrup was a little too sweet.)

I couldn't leave Lincoln out of my post. This boy can put away some watermelon!!!!

This weekend we went from being a family of
two
to a family of
four.

Our two additions arrived on Saturday. They are on "loan" to us for the weekend. They are currently residing in a diaper box.

Here they are cuddled up.
We have two chicks that are 4-5 days old. They are precious! We've enjoyed having them this weekend. On Monday, I will take them to school, so that the kiddos can see them. This afternoon, I told Lincoln that the birds will be leaving our house tomorrow. He broke into tears, and said, "I yove (love) those birds. The birds are my friend. I gonna miss the birds."

I know you have all been dying to know about the adventure I'm diving into : ) . . . I talked to my principal today, and she said it's official. Next year I will be teaching. . . prek. I will be teaching a mixture of 3's and 4's. It is a half day program, so I will have two groups of kiddos. I think it's going to be a great change of pace.
While I am a bit nervous about this new challenge, I really feel that God provided this opportunity for me. Last month when I was driving to and from Ft. Worth, God and I had a few discussions. (I'm not sure if you've figured this out about me, but I'm very bad about trying to do things on my own. I don't know when I'll learn to just lean on Him.) Anyways, He and I had a little talk. I finally broke down and realized that me trying to handle things on my own isn't working so well. I told Him that I need some relief. This school year has taken its toll. I feel like I've turned into a ball of stress. I don't like who I've become as a person, or as a teacher, or as a mom. A few days later, I was sitting in a meeting, and my principal announced that there was a prek position open at my school. Just a few days after I came to Him admitting that I needed relief, an opportunity was placed before me. Though I have had a few moments when I've wondered if I've completely lost my mind in making this move, for the most part, I feel a great sense of peace in this decision.

Like a Kid in a Candy Store
When holidays like Christmas or my birthday or Mother's Day roll around I always toy with the idea of buying myself a present. Afterall, if I had a husband, he would buy me a gift. Right?? Well, last night I bought something that makes up for the times I've "gone without."

While I know NOTHING about photography, I've found that I really enjoy taking pictures. I've been toying with the idea of buying a nice camera for a while. Afterall, if there's ever a time to have a good camera, it's when your kids are little. It's best that I learn now while Lincoln doesn't mind me taking millions of pictures. In a few years, he'll be too cool for pictures. I'll be lucky if I get to take a few shots.
